ABOUT TEHA'AMANA
TEHA'AMANA is a leather workshop in Osaka. The workshop is located in a place full of greenery, a little far from the city, and the products are produced in a relaxed manner while feeling the blessings of nature as the seasons change.
The studio name Tehamana comes from the name of the girl Gauguin met in Tahiti. Since Gauguin created many masterpieces after meeting Tehamana, he said, "We want customers who pick up our works to live a rich life." It seems that it was named with such a wish.
All the leather used in TEHA'AMANA is old-fashioned vegetable tanned leather (Nume leather) tanned in Shibuso. It takes time and effort, but the more you use it, the softer and familiar it becomes, and you can enjoy the natural texture.
Cutting, perforating, hand sewing, etc. are all done by hand in the workshop. By sticking to manual work, we can select the best leather and create a warm atmosphere that can only be produced by manual work.
Hand stitching takes time, but it can be sewn with waxed hemp thread, which cannot be used with a sewing machine, and creates a warm atmosphere. The beeswax used for waxing is homemade, made from Japanese bee hives that are kept in the workshop.
