Designed by Lucian Ercolani in 1956, the BUTTERFLY CHAIR is a dining chair perfect for everyday use. Its subtle curves and sculptural refinement make it a beloved midcentury classic.
Its simple, clean forms reflect Lucien Arcolani's design philosophy and traditional craftsmanship, achieving the perfect balance between form and function by removing all unnecessary elements from the chair's structure. The result is a timeless piece of furniture that is as comfortable as it is elegant.
The distinctive shape of the Butterfly Chair exudes a sense of lightness and purity. The design is inspired by the traditional beauty of Windsor furniture, combining a playful, iconic silhouette with a comfortable seating experience. The rounded curves of the bentwood gently fit the contours of the body, providing comfort and serenity to the sitter.
Butterfly Chair's greatest feature is in its details: it features a traditional Windsor wedge and tenon joint, where the chair legs pass through the seat and are secured with wedges, creating a strong, durable base suitable for everyday use.
Today, the Butterfly Chair joins the L.Ercolani collection as part of a new collection that combines Lucien Ercolani's classic designs with ercol's iconic modern design.
This chair offers a warm, soft aesthetic and comfort suited to modern living.
The underside of the seat features a branding iron exclusive to this collaboration. Each chair will also be hand-signed by Henry, the current chairman * of Ercol and Lucien's great-grandson. This is a special chair, one of a kind. We hope you will cherish it and pass it on to future generations.
